UPDATED INFORMATION ON LEE VALLEY FREE WILD WATER CANOEING, RAFTING AND FREESTYLE CANOEING EVENT 12 SEPTEMBER 2015
Please register with rafting and Wild Water racing ideally before the day so we can gauge numbers and ensure we have sufficient equipment etc.
Participants should be comfortable capsizing a closed cockpit craft (i.e. one that covers the legs rather than sit on tops etc.), if not then if you make this known when you register and we will endeavour to give instruction/ alternative craft options.
0900-1200 Rafting is being hosted by the British Canoeing Rafting Committee, further information can be obtained from Paskell Blackwell PBlackwell@leevalleypark.org.uk
The rafting team are going to put on an intro session for those new to rafting and a session for their current rafting teams in the morning
1200-1500 Wild Water racing, if you could fill in the attached form, print it out and bring it with you on the day it will help.
There will be a small tent/marquee where people can check in – ask for Mackon, Jamie or Ross.
Under 18s need parental consent.
There will be some practice and skills sessions on the flat pool beforehand so be prepared to get wet, to capsize and have lots of fun. I suggest you bring spare paddling clothes in case it is cold. Helmets, boats, paddles and buoyancy aids will be provided but if you have your own please bring them.
Beach/paddling shoes are advisable or something similar but not essential and light clothing that you can swim in but keep warm in layers are better than one thick one e.g. Helly Hansen thermal tops and bottoms or similar but light tracksuit bottoms etc. are fine NOT jeans or anything that can tighten when wet.
More info is available from Macon email@example.com
1500- Free style as they are last on the program they intend to do registration on the day, ideally from 1400 till 1500 so we can get some heats sorted out.
They will probably run a format of free practice followed by jam style 15 to 20 min heats depending on numbers per heat.
