Socials and Events

In addition to our regular outdoor activities the club is very sociable with all-sorts of events taking place.

Regular Activities

Our main social hub is the Brighton Sailing Club (100m east of the West Pier on the lower seafront). Members meet regularly on a Wednesday evening at 20:30, but the new/prospective members nights on the 2nd Wednesday each month are the most well attended.

In addition to just chatting, the club runs a variety of social events, recently we’ve had:

  • ‘Explorers Tales’ – members talking about various adventures from kayaking in Bhutan to being chased by boar through woods in France
  • BBQs
  • Kit sales
  • Ceilidhs
  • Real ale nights
  • Pub Crawls
  • Halloween scavenger hunts
  • Christmas Parties

As well as our social events, the club also takes part in various active events throughout the year, such as the Paddle Round the Pier and the BEC Explorathon – a multi-activity team relay.

Members have use of the sailing club bar which is very reasonably priced.

Costs will vary depending on the event, larger events may have a ticket price and some may fundraise for charity.

During Covid socials followed the government guidance at the time. They continued to take place in groups of 6 where possible, and the Brighton Sailing Club has outdoor seating. These restrictions have since mostly lifted.
