Climbing

The section leader, Debbie Marsh, is currently away, so climbing is happening on an ah hoc basis at High Sports, Withdean Sports Centre.  There is a WhatsApp group for BEC members, who are competent to put on a harness, tie in and belay.  If you would like to join the WhatsApp group, please email your name and phone number to: climbing@brightonexplorers.org or chair@brightonexplorers.org

The section leader and other club members (who are competent climbers and have BMC membership) organise beginners sessions approximately once a month and these will be advertised through the website.

The club sometimes climbs at Boulder Brighton and beginners may attend any of these sessions.

We also organise trips to climbing areas around the UK such as the Peak District, Swanage, Pembroke and Portland, and in Europe. Previous trips have been to Fontainebleau, Chamonix, the Pyrenees and Ailefroide.

We have a selection of club equipment for members to borrow including ropes, trad gear and quickdraws. We will also contribute to relevant training courses if members wish to improve their skills.

To be able to climb with the club, you need to be able to put on a harness, tie in and belay though for bouldering all are accepted; other than that climbers of all abilities are very welcome.  Club members, who are competent climbers and have BMC membership, sometimes runs beginners sessions, which will be advertised through the website.
